Have you ever heard of magnetic healing? Magnetic healing is a controversial alternative medical practice that basically uses magnets to heal the human body. It sounds a lot like a fantasy miracle cure, and it is treated as such by many in the medical field, as well as regular guys like you and I. Did I mention it's controversial?
After putting long hours of tedious, scholarly research (a Google search) into this subject, I came across a link to some actual studies on the subject. Not a skeptical critique simply pointing out the lack of evidence, not some unproven testimonial, an actual study done by an actual organization, the North American Academy of Magnetic Therapy to be exact. This should be good.
The article, written by Dean Bonlie, DDS, touches on two cases dealing with partially paralyzed patients, both of them dramatically improved by the use of his magnetic healing technology, which he calls the Magnetic Molecular Energizer. Here is a brief excerpt:
"Mrs DW, age 54 years, came to the MME [Magnetic Molecular Energizer] site for treatment four years after her stroke. Her speech ability regularly deteriorated by day's end. Her right wrist and hand were totally without motor function. Her upper right arm had limited function--about 10 percent--and her right foot had no dorsal flexion. Her hands and feet were continuously cold. The MME treatment consisted of 180 hours over 18 days. Once again, the results were dramatic. Her speech returned to normal. She had 40 percent improvement in motor function in her right wrist and hand and 80 percent improvement in the triceps, biceps and deltoids in her upper right arm. Circulation returned to her hands and feet."
The article sheds light on this otherwise, "unilluminating" subject. Maybe magnetic healing can be used to actually heal illnesses, not just provide a simple "feel good" placebo effect. If this were true, it would certainly revolutionize medical practice itself. Why buy medicine X and medicine Y if you can heal yourself by being around a couple of magnets? This raises another issue.
That issue being, the medical industry DOES NOT want magnetic healing to succeed, whether it is real or just a hoax. We need to get away from the notion that all doctors and scientists are intellectual men and women of science whose only goal is discover the truth and better mankind. Of course these people are incredibly smart and competent! However, we have to remember that they're out there to make money and provide for themselves and their families, just like us. If magnetic healing proves to be extremely effective, it'll put them out of a job, including the pharmaceutical business, and they're not going to sit by and let that happen. Remember that.
With all of this knowledge in mind, magnetic healing is a great possibility that is worth exploring. There is proof in a sea of skepticism, and it must be considered. Just remember, if you plan on investing money into any products, make sure they have a return policy. There is reason behind the skepticism, after all.
